control arm and inner tie rod install

I know there is a write up for the installation for the inner tie rod. I just want to know if there is a write up for the install of the lower control arms? And what tools are needed for both installations. I have already ordered the parts and would like to install them once they arrive. Thanks for any input.

pickle fork or ball joint separator costs $14 at sears. i bought one last week for the lower control arm. thats basically all you need to do the LCA. you will damage the boot on the old LCA though, but that shouldnt really matter since your replacing it.

as for the tie rods...i havent attempted it yet.

ogparjay - take pics for the benefit of the org - so others can learn from your experience. I need to do this on my own car (both LCAs, inner/outer tie-rod ends).

I have failed everytime trying to remove the control arms, now I have a stripped balljoint nut and a broken breaker bar from trying to remove the axle. Why I had to remove the axle you might ask; I have gay *** autozone axles and they are different so I cannot slip a closed end wrench over hte ball joint nut. So I tried to remove the axle so I could put a socket over the nut, but broke the breaker bar and did not get the axle off.

kevlo - you've had a string of not-so-smooth projects of late. One of my buddy's told me to just have a shop swap out the LCAs.. he said with the road-salt and corrosion, the LCAs will be a b**** to get off... so I'm just going to order the parts and bite the bullet. I might have the shop throw on the inner/outer tie-rod ends while I'm there... that way I'm back on the road and done with.
