tire and wheel question
#1
when i bought my 98 se a couple of days ago, they came with brand new american eagle 17x7 147's w/42mm bs and 245/45/17 Nitto NT555 tires. they rub when i drove them so i did a little research and found that the reccomended tire size for a 17x7 rim was 235/45/17. the reccomended bs was 35-40mm. from what i can tell, my options are new rims, adjusting the turnstops, or wheel spacers. i don't really want to get spacers since the front is already flush at the fender already. not too sure about the laws on cars with tires sticking past the fenders but on my jeep i've been warned once already. as for the turnstops, i don't really want to lose any turning radius. give me some input as to what you people think. i'm new to the maxima scene and value any other suggestions you can give me. thanks.

I would try to change the tires, i am sure that is possible. If not yes you can go with 235/45/17 tires. As for the wheels stiking out of the fender that is the first time i have heard of this. I live in NYC and i see all kinds of weird things and that i know for sure isn't a problem, hope this helps.

You should get 17x8s with 35-42mm offset (backspacing is different) and 235/45/17s.

If money is no object, get new rims and tires. If you don't have $1200, get spacers. They will only be about 1/4", hardly the "rollerskate" look.
I would avoid adjusting the turnstops unless the spacers don't quite do the job.
