Suspension Question

Im not very knowledgeable when it comes to suspensions, my Camaro's suspension felt great and there was never any need to change anything. Im not too picky because i only drive the max for about 3 months out of the year, but i decided that this is a good opportunity to lower my car. Alright so heres my question, Can you use aftermarket springs with oem se shocks/struts?? Will the suspension feel any different with a setup like this? Thanks in advance

Well first lets address the first part of the question, and thats a Yes you can use springs with stock shocks. Now lets address the technical part of that, dont do it . That is a big mistake. Basically you will be putting stiffer springs on shocks that are not properly valved to handle the spring rate and in a few months you will have to buy new shocks anyway. Not to mention the ride with upgraded shocks and springs is much better than just springs with stock shocks. And one more thing to that point is that you will have to pay twice to change you springs, unless you can do it your self, but based on the # of posts you have I assume you are a to the max and I wouldnt advise that unless you have somewhat of a mechanical mind. But let me know if you have anymore questions. Oh but to the second part of you quetion Yes it will feel different to. The car will be much more controlled, and aftera while with the stock shocks will become blown and the ride will get very bouncy. So save a few more pennies and buy shocks as well.

thanks for the reply, that is what i thought but i was just making sure. I am fairly new to the maxima, as my last 2 cars were rear wheel drive american cars, but i have done a lot of work on those vehicles including replacing front struts, Im not sure how much different i would be on my maxima but im fairly confident that it wont be a problem. However i will take your advise, save up for shocks and struts too, and do it all at once.

Well yeah its not to much different from those cars, just know you will need a spring compressor to do the job. But if you need help just PM me and I can give you some write-ups or just check the stickies.
