In-cabin Microfilter
With enough money you can do anything, but it would essentially be a waste. Why do you want one? So the air in your car will be "cleaner"? Well unless you live in your car, it doesn't make much difference, because as soon as you step outside, open a window or door, all of the "polluted" air is going to get into the car anyway. And every time you walk outside, you are exposed to the "polluted" air.
I didn't realize so many Maxima owners were hypochondriacs.
OH NOES OUTSIDE AIR!!!
This topic is getting out of control and so many different answers. I believe the confusion here is the filter door that moves when you change from recirculate air to outside air below the glove box. This is NOT considered an in-cabin microfilter. If that's the case, a lot of cars would have it. Again, that flap is NOT an in-cabin microfilter. If someone still feels that there is one in a 4th gen max, go out to your car, take a pic of the car and where you are removing it from before posting..
Miss Trini I think I know what a filter door looks like and a actual filter looks like. all I know maybe who ever had my car before me may have installed one or what ever the case. just because you don't have one don't mind that it couldn't possibly be in another... geez. it's people like you that take a thread to far or out of it's content.
Dust as Kevlo911 says not only that when you are driving you are exposed to higher quantities of particulate matter, soot, and other pollution. Especially when you are accelerating. I wrote a paper on diesel vs gasoline vs biodiesel emissions. It's a completely valid concern.
First off, I am no Miss buddy boy...and second do exactly what I said and post a pic. Why are you so hesitant to post a pic? Are you afraid that you will get laughed at and be ashamed?? Even some of the Mods are waiting to see this pic to prove them wrong...so do us the honor please..
No offense taken my friend...but where are the most anticipated pics of the year?? I see that you would have tried and get it to us this weekend but to no avail..
Maybe nissan should have put on in the 4th gen maybe it is important. All this pollution 4th gen owners have been exposed too over the years may have killed some brain cells resulting in many of the less intelligent posts we seen in the 4th gen forums this thread included.
Nah man. Najee is still up here posting in other threads and he promised us some pics but he seems to be avoiding this thread..we are all anxious to see these pics of the "in-cabin filter."
Don't want to complicate the thread but did you all know that the japanese 4th generation imports we get in New Zealand have a big plastic box thing that sits under the parcel shelf in the trunk and is quite large and has vents to and from the cabin that feed into it. There is a three speed fan switch on the centre console on some models and on the dash on others that controls it.Not sure if there is a filter in there to change as did not look closely.
Now as far as i can tell it is an air ioniser that they use to remove some contaminants from the cabin air. My car it has been removed and only the chopped off wires are left hanging there but i did test drive one a week ago at a dealers and it was still in place and working and just hums lightly when turned on.
My J30 had something similar but alot smaller and sat on the parcel shelf inside and about the size of a small fan heater. I removed it when i first got it as it looked so ugly sittng there with the paint all faded on it.
It was still working at the time and had a switch beside the main cruise control switch on the dash. Cheers Vee

When the pics are posted and its not the in-cabin filter, yea I much agree that it should be locked then but for now, lets wait till najee posts us these pics...this is the most anticipated thread this year so far...the pics are going to be epic
This thread will not lock until the pics are posted. EVen Kevlo wants to see these pics of an "in-cabin filter" that no one else on here knows about...

It seems like when somebody asks a real question but theres other threads with scattered info that they may or may not have searched for, you guys flip out. But here we are, pretty much no new info, just waitin on pics that might not get posted, and everyones happy. ????

I'm trying desperately to get more important items done to the car which now it's in the shop cause of a need to get the work done faster. Otherwise I would have done it myself, but it my only car and I have to work also. But guys I hear you!!! and thanks for the bump

what else do you guys want? why should i lock it? what's wrong with leaving this thread open? no else posted until you guys posted about this thread, the simple bump for pics was no problem
I want mods to remember this thread next time they're thinking about flaming someone for asking a question.....that might actually help them fix their car. Just sayin.................
What? Flaming someone might help them fix their car?
There's plenty of info on this site, if people really want help they can find it. Then there are the problems that have yet to be fixed, they have their own threads, and then there are the lazy's who want to be spoonfed. What's your point?

The original question has been answered already, then someone else came in and said we were wrong. So we told him to prove it basically, there is no flaming involved here. He has yet to provide proof, even though he said he would. If he would show us a pic of what he is talking about, maybe some confusion can be cleared up now, so that in the future people will know.

Like I seen someone stated before in another thread, some people in this forum do tend to get very touchy when it comes to stuff like that. This is just the internet people..
I had a 98 I30 that supposedly had a cabin air filter for it. I know I know Different car. However a lot of the same things are identical to my 99 Maxima.
Reading this makes me want to take the ten minutes to rip open the glove box right now and see if there is one. Well see if I can settle this and do it tomorrow. I think its plausible .. Both ways with and with out.
S**t this car has 3 THREE different axles.. They ALWAYS get mixed up. I know bc I bought the car with the wrong one in it. PEP Boys gave me a wrong one and FINALLY I got the 3rd one that was the right fit.
Point being. That is very likely we could have it or not have it.
LOL.. Again I will try to do this myself to end the MYSTERIOUS cabin filter Tomorrow.. My wife is stationed in the middle of the desert there is a ton of dust out here.. would be nice to know if we have one or not!
