Rpms Jumpy Sucky Problem

Ok here's the scoop. My rpms are jumpy and it's hard driving, the car lags seems like I'm towing something heavy. That's when I take off and just cruising at low speeds. I stay at 2k rpms then floor it, the engine "winds up" and then 2 seconds later it jumps very quickly to 5k rpms. I have a tough problem going up hills. I have to step on the pedal pretty far to get going. I'm not getting a code for the knock sensor (I tried pulling codes). Is this normal with an Automatic transmission? I blame this for my very bad gas mileage.

Thanks, Aaron

Sounds like a transmission issue. I got something like that especially going on hills. Probably my 4th gear is slipping. Try turning off overdrive and then see the difference.

Thinking it could be the torque converter. I know someone with the same exact problem...

This happens to me sometimes too. Is it an automatic specific problem?
