A/C Repair $$ Question Need new Drier/Receiver
My AC suddenly stopped working in my 99 Maxima SE. I took it to the shop and the first thing the guy told me was that the receiver/drier was done and that it would be $525 to replace it (total). I went ahead and ok'd that and now they are telling me I need a new AC line as well as it won't hold pressure. They told me that since the unit was already pulled apart they could discount the hose to $170 for a total of about 700 bucks. I know this is expensive but would you say that I am getting ripped off?
Could somebody that has the maintenance books quote me the amount of time this job should take and how much OEM parts cost?
Thanks!

Hell yeah you're getting ripped off. You probably should have replaced the compressor and clutch assembly to start. Did you check to make sure the relay's and fuses didn't burn out? My AC is gone and I checked all of those things first to narrow my issue down to the clutch. I'm replacing the whole the clutch and compressor together because it will cost me about 325 for a new setup. I'll install it myself also. Very easy job.
