Ok.... How in the HELL did this happen?

So I was driving on the highway yesterday, doing everything by the book, no spirited driving. All of a sudden, I hear a shatter of glass, and a bunch of glass flying all around my car. I figured someone threw a bottle out of their car window or something... What ever right?

So I get to a redlight and I roll my window down to get a whiff of that nice Philly smog, and I hear a sound. A sound of something being dragged on the ground. I think to myself, "....Ok, now what the **** could this be?"

I get out of my car, walk around to the front(where I heard the dragging) and it appeard that my foglight had fallen out of the car, and smacked against the highway(that was the sound I had heard previously with the glass shattering and flying all over the place. So I picked it up to see if I could pop it back in real quick, obviously that didn't happen, so I walk back to my car since the light had turned green, and notice my hand is gushing blood from about 6 different places because of the broken glass on the foglight, **** man, I thought they were plastic.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should this kind of stuff really be happening? I mean thats a serious ****ing safty hazard right there.

Cutting your hand because of being careless with broken glass...

Is it a safety hazard or is it carelessness on your part?

or are you questioning the fog-light popping out on its own?

its a safety hazard when you walk around your car in an intersection, just like when you pick up broken glass pieces with bare hands. it could be a rock shattering the foglights and knocking it out, who knows.

I suppose it's possible for a foglight to fall out if it was loose or became loose over time.

So you heard glass break, then you heard glass flying everywhere, then when you see your foglight broken and figure out that it is what broke, you think its plastic? stupid.

Unless you have to have OEM, go aftermarket, or ebay if you're lucky. Retail on OEM, about $175, I had to ask and that IS for just one.

no offence but it seems you made some mistakes:
not securing in the foglight well
being careless about picking it up
good luck fixing it. geat thread by the way. top notch. really adds to the org and all...

My foglight fell out and broke at the track. It was really fun shutting it down while they cleaned it up.

I think one of the posts was broken or something. Anyway foglights are not the most stable thing. Be careful with glass.

Ye you know i found out that rotary saws are also hazardous if you stick ur finger in em. I got my thumb in one spinning down and it stopped a mm before hitting bone :P
So be ware dont stick ur hands into broken glass or rotary saws.
