Compression test results.
Compression test results.
These are the results I got from the compression test I did today.
Cylinder#
1. 190
2. 185
3. 190
4. 187
5. 192
6. 187
I know the normal compression is 185, I got a bit higher than normal so im guessing my engine is in good shape. Now I got to reset the check engine light
. I have 109k on my engine.

Yes my school provided me with a compression test gauge and adaptors. I did it this morning once I woke up. I disabled Fuel, the fuse is under the dash 15A fuse. Then I unpluged the CPS & TPS. I removed all coil pack with spark plugs. Removed that tube that goes to the TB, Cranked the car 5x with TB in WOT. Wrote down the results for each cylinder. I was crossing my fingers I didnt get bad results. I think the highest I hit was 195 but I wasnt sure it was hard to tell.
With a 10-year old car you'd expect some dropoff in the spec compression. The numbers themselves aren't nearly as important as the fact that all your cylinders are holding similar pressures (assuming they're not all sub-100 psi).
If the compression is wearing down then you want to see even wear across all 6, which you seem to have. Good sign.

Thank you. This was a dry test. I didn't add any oil in the pistons. Also they were 1x readings. I did the test 1 time per cylinder. Im worried about #2 being at 185. I should have done it again. My car has done every test except leak down test. Compression, Vac, fuel, starter, alternator and injectors were all checked and are in excellent working condition. Next test would be a leak down test, Im pretty sure the engine is perfectly sound. Im debating on buying a new KS, I should test it to see if its on its way out. I replaced it 4 years ago. Im planning on doing a clutch/flywheel setup soon. Timing chain and guides im planing on replace that as well. Its making a supercharger noise when I rev it up.
Yes the carbon creates a better sealing effect. There isnt much carbon build up on-top of my pistions. I had a machine at school with a camera probe go into each cylinder to check for cracks in the heads between the valves. Using higher octane will take care of carbon control. As long as the rings/carbon are doing their job holding compression then im happy.
