AC Quit Suddenly
Friday my AC worked fine...no noise, cooled just as good as usual. Started up car on Monday and no AC, just blowing hot air. I can hear the compressor kick on and the RPMs bump up a bit as usual. Just no cool air.
I thought when your AC went out it was a gradual thing, with the air getting warmer over time. Suggestions? Ideas? I've got 124K miles on my '99 SE and never really had a problem with anything.

Are you sure the compressor is running? If the condensor sprung a leak (rock) then the system could be suddenly emptied. The compressor wouldn't run with no charge in the sytem. Do you have auto climate control? If you do and the compressor is running then you could have a problem with the HVAC controls.

Anyone have an idea what Jiffy Lube or similar places charge for doing a recharge, even tho the car should never need one. I believe I have a slow leak. Should I just pick up the stuff from pep boys to try and do a home refill?? I was checking the stickies and they really didn't show a good walk-through on how to perform the procedure. I remember this happened once before and I had it refilled, it lasted a good 2 years.
