Serious Tranny-related problem - help!

Hey, i just did my 5spd swap 2 days ago...all was fine until today.

On the way to my girlfriend's house, i turn and shift into 2nd, and all of a sudden the car does not go into gear. The tranny does, and the speedometer moves, and the engine runs, but i can put the tranny into gear without pressing the clutch pedal. I checked the reservoir, and the clutch fluid was full. Nothin was leaking, and all seemed to be fine under the engine. Only when the car was lifted on the tow truck did i see that some brake fluid was leaking...but i checked the reservoir later and it seemed to be fine. It could have also been transmission fluid, and it looks like it was coming from the driver's side, maybe near the axle.

When i did the 5spd swap, i used the clutch in the parts car (it was fairly used, but as long as it worked, i was happy.) Some of the springs did look a bit worn though. The brand of the clutch was Valeo.

Could the problem be my axle is broken? Or does my entire clutch assembly need to be replaced? Has anyone had this problem where the car physically goes into gear, but does not move?

Thanks,
-Freddy

I honestly without looking would have no idea, but when you say it is leaking from the driver side axle there is a seal where the axle goes into the tranny. Maybe your axle popped out. I mean I have no clue but you say its leaking and theres a seal right where you think it might be leaking from.

wow, to be honest with you, i never even thought of that. I had a mechanic look at it, and he said the clutch needs to be adjusted, but the clutch was fine. I really think that might be the problem, because when i put the axle in, i don't remember putting that one on very tight. The other axle went on with bolts, so i know that's on well. This also happened when i was on a turn, so that could be a very real explanation. I'll find out tomorrow morning. A loose axle is free to fix, but a clutch is arund 300 bucks. I'll hope it's the first.
