Simple Borla part number question

Simple Borla part number question

What's the part number for a Borla muffler that would fit on 2.5" piping on my 98? Not looking for comments about the muffler or the sound, i already know what that's like, i just need to know the part number. Thanks.

Here's the website, http://borla.com , go see for yourself.They make universal mufflers, what kind of a response were you expecting? As long as it has a 2.5" inlet it will fit. It also seem all their mufflers are $150+, why would you spend that on a muffler. This is a truly bad thread.

I believe the number is 40358. It is offset/centered and has a 2.5 inch inlet & outlet (Borla Pro XS Muffler). You can get one for $69 from Wicked Nicky's Exhaust on Ebay. bhmax16 has one and it sounds amazing! I'm going to order one for myself today. The tip is extra though.

I've got a quick muffler question too. Does the 99 Maxima have the same muffler as the 97/98's? I'm just wondering because I want to order one of these but I know the 99 used more parts from the 5th gen Maximas...

It certainly looks exactly the same as the '98 muffler whenever I see dayglo's '99 ES.

I was thinking of Borla as well but I get the feeling #40358 is almost like a straight-through muffler. Can anyone confirm this for me?

What do you mean by straight through? I ordered one so hopefully its okay for my 99...you could ask bhmax16 cause this is the same muffler he has. I didn't order the tip though so I'm not sure what to do.

When you look through a straight-through muffler you can see the other end.

^Not true. With a offset/center or offset/offset you can't see out the other side, it's still straight thru. Mufflers from flowmaster are not straight thru for example.

I was only referring to Boral #40358. In the pic I attached it looks like you can see through it, end to end unless there is something blocking the view. The flowmasters have those internal wall-like buffers which don't allow you to see through them. I have Vibrant muffler #1042 at home that I don't use because its straight-through and allows too much noise for my tastes.

Thanks Northern Maxima, im ordering this muffler tommorow from Wicked Nicky's. Good price for a good muffler. This is ridiculous though, the tips cost almost as much as the mufflers!
