painted dash

i just repainted my dash yesterday and was wondering how to take off the plastic piece around the door handle and around the driver and passenger side air vent......i know it most likely snaps off but everytime i get one side snapped off the other side seems like its going to break before the clips come out (on the handles)... also same thing on the driver/passenger side air vents....thanks

The door piece just snaps off...you have to stick a flat screwdriver in from the front of the car and pry hard. It feels a little scary, but it should just pop off. The handle itself doesn't come off.

handle trim is easily take off..first stick a screw driver on the top part and push it forward..there is a type of clip there so be careful...the passanger and driver side airvents..are bolted down from the back..SO you would have to take out the entire dash to do those.

The peices on the door come out easily. The airvents require the entire dash to be removed... if I could do it over, I wouldn't have done that.

The air vents dont require you to remove your whole dash. I removed mine just fine, you can look at my cardomain if you don't believe me. The secret is you have to pry one of the corners up from the bottom with a flathead screwdriver, then push the handle of the screwdriver down so the head is almost vertical, then push up (sliding the head of the screwdriver between the trim cover and the vent). That side of the trim will seperate, then just repeat this process on the other side to get the piece off. This is the method that worked best for me while painting my dash (sorry I explained it best I could but it's hard to put into words). Goodluck

I think he was referring to that it took him 5 minutes to remove the side vent trim pieces...not 5 minutes to paint the whole dash. So stop being a smart a$$ it's not our fault you made your life a whole lot harder than it had to be
