Antenna Problem

About a month ago, I noticed that every time the antenna goes up or down it makes a clicking noise for about ten to fifteen seconds when it is fully extended or retracted. Although the radio works well, it is rather embarrasing how loud the clicking noise is.

Also, my stock Bose CD player does not play CDs anymore. It reads "Err". Anything I can do to fix either one of these two problems?

Thanks.

Go look on ebay and get another one if it's that bad. They sell for like $20. Thats what I plan to do.

the cd "Err" problem has been discussed alot. there is a link in the stickies (im pretty sure) showing a part you can solder in side the bose headunit to make it work. I tried it and ruined my whole headunit. the radio didnt even work. But other people have got it to work. i finally just dished out the money for a bose head from a 99 maxima, and it works perfectly. it gave me the "ERr" a month ago and i just stuck in a lense cleaner cd and it fixed it right up.
as far as your antenna..i just bought a new aftermarket one. the one on ebay didnt work from me so i bought one from someone off the org. still havent got it wired up though .
i kinda wish now that i had shaved the hole and gotten something more sleek.

I would imagine it looks similar to the way the rear quarter panel on your drivers side looks.

Is it easy to replace the device that moves the antenna up and down? Also, does it require a new metal part, or is it just the plastic part that requires replacement?

Try greasing it first. As for the CD player... time you buy a used one from the classifieds.

It is easy to replace... you can get a whole new motor (with antenna) for about $150 from everythingnissan.

My antenna failed yesterday. I hear it trying to move. Sometimes it goes a short distance, but after a while the drive motor gives up and leaves it in the up position.

Grease or oil? It does seem rather sticky.

My antenna used to go up fine and then get stuck about half-way on the way down. I just pushed it all the way down and disconnected it. It is always down now and so far reception has been fine.

thats because you have a second antenna in the upper portion of your rear windsheild above the defroster bars...

It either needs lubrication, or the plastic transfer belt piece in the mast is broken. That happens fairly often. I had to replace the mast with one from Ebay and at first it wouldn't go all the way in, but then I realized I had assembled the exterior part of the assembly wrong. Now it works just fine with no clicking. The entire assembly can be removed if you want to do it, and if you take your time disassembling the motor assembly, you can see how it works and find out if the plastic belt is broken or not. The antenna mast comes complete with the belt and everything. Follow the directions carefully and you should be fine.

Yeah, It's pretty easy and there are stickies somewhere on it. Directions are also provided with the kit and on line as well. Try here...
