My OD light blinks 16 times when the key is turned to the ON position.
i tried searching, and i saw how to run the diagnostic in the FAQ's, but the thing is...
I CONVERTED TO 5 SPEED!
i also am using a 5speed ecu. somebody suggested removing the automatic transmission control unit (i tried looking in my haynes manual but i can't seem to find this)? anybody else know why my OD light is blinking or how to get rid of it?

okay, i found the location of the TCM in my FSM. is it okay just to pull this out?

 

Since you don't have a transmission anymore I think you'll be ok.. you might get some CEL codes though - since the ECU might be expecting to see the TCM.. I'm just throwing out what sounds logical to me - I don't know for sure... not sure if the CEL shows any non-emissions related codes...

 

ya, do 5speed's have TCM's?? if not then i can pull it out for sure.

 

no, 5speeds do not have TCMs...i need to swap out my ecu as well for the swap I did last week.

 

you can probably just snip the wire off. If you pull a code, no worries, if you can check the codes yourself you'll know which ones are important or not.

 

i have an auto, mine blinks 16 times because of the drop resistor mod, somethiing to do with shifting at full line pressure. but dont know with ur manual.

 

ya, i'm thinking it blinks because i have the TCM in but with a manual transmission. i'll try pulling the TCM out tomorrow and seeing what happens. hopefully the light will just stop blinking.

 

You could always pull the bulb since you will never use it.

 

well i pulled the TCM today and it indeed took care of the blinking OD light problem.
