why not? it did last nite?!?!?!

hector-i didn't know that you were considering that, but if you are going with the 3.5 swap, then why not go with the 6-speed that came oem with it?

I hear the 6 speed is not really that much better, the 6th gear is more of a second overdrive gear as opposed to being another gear. I still need to do more research, I also heard of the possibility of using a 3.5 Altima tranny. They seem to have better gearing than the max....

5 spd for me will have to come this winter, or sooner. Im getting some BS code for a second gear signal fault. It gets sketchy while in reverse at times. Overall feels like a POS. I found a few trannies in WI for 600-800, 00-01 non vlsd

Count me in for another 5-spd swap meet - you better have a heated garage

no heated garage, I dont get cold. A whole winter with no heat my 95 blazer toughened me up. Better bring a hat and mittens. More than likely wouldnt do it at my house anyways, I always bring my car to Daves garage for anything such as that.

What can I say? It was the least I could do for everyone who showed up. That and feed them.

Hey aznsap

In this pic, what exact part are the jackstands sitting on under the car? Can't find a spot I'm happy lowering the car on to really round that area

didn't u post a pic like this in another thread?

it's kinda hard to describe but there's a solid metal bar i placed the jack stand under and that piece has two huge bolts going through it. i'm not sure if those small stand points near the front are the ones i used or not, but if not, the ones i used were close to that area.

Yeah I did.. as you say its hard to describe where they go.. I've looked at different points under there, just don't feel that comfortable with where/how the car rests on the jack stands.. will need to have another look I think

Thats what I'm banking on Get a haynes to I reckon.. HLH looks good but doesn't tell you how to fit the clutch properly etc.

just got off the phone with the parts guy about my first transmission. he said he called everywhere including japan, and then i finally gave him the website nissanparts.cc and the part# for the clutch housing and he's like.. oHHH. he called the local dealership and is gettin hooked up with the part and the transmission should be fixed and sent back to me next week.
so i'll have an extra AE tranny sitting around, anybody interested? i guess i should post this in the FS forum when i can get pics.

What did you do for the fly wheel, does the VQ30 have a solid flexiplate to bolt the pressure plate up to?
Manual transmissions are even rarer fir these cars in New Zealand, think I will be looking for a while.

So were these two transmissions you ordered used that you found at a yard, or did you buy them from a shop that had re-built them?

How many miles are on the tranny you used for your car?

Any problems so far?
