I'm at 118k with the original. Thinking about replacing and heard good things bout the 5th gen clutch. Well, wait and see. I'd really like to spend my $ on some other things: Tokico Illuminas, H&R, and some Mille Migla EVOs with some rubber to match. Oh yeah, a new set of headlights. Mine are yellow. Cheers
There's never a day when something's not on sale
160K on my first max, 57K on this one, but the tranny went with it......

Not quite, ever heard of key value parts from Nissan ( and probably other manufacterers too.)??? They are considered inferior to the true OEM setups.Originally Posted by Bobo

That's good to know. Unfortunately I didn't know that. My ignorance.Originally Posted by Bobo
Have you ever heard of if it ain't broke don't fix it? There was absolutely no reason to replace the clutch when the slave cylinder failed and there are no efficiencies of doing so at the same time.

Would it be possible that you are contending with an unscrupulous stealership? Are you positive that they replaced the clutch 35K ago? Did you notice a significant difference relative to your experience prior to having the slave cylinder problem? It may be that they didn't replace the clutch.
I've been with this particular dealership for 9 years and I had no reason to mistrust them until now. When I first got my clutch replaced, I noticed that it was already slipping so when I brought it right back to talk to them about it they said that the flywheel needed to seat to the clutch. When I brought it up in subsequent oil changes they dismissed it and said that when they drove it and was fine, and that it was probably just my imagination because new clutches feel different. 3 years 35,000 miles later, I'm screwed. Last month I was teaching a friend to drive on a 97 Maxima w/ 120,000 miles and noticed that the clutch was significantly tighter than mine. That's when I began to worry and realized that it wasn't just me. Too late now. :-(Would it be possible that you are contending with an unscrupulous stealership? Are you positive that they replaced the clutch 35K ago? Did you notice a significant difference relative to your experience prior to having the slave cylinder problem? It may be that they didn't replace the clutch.

I don't know how different they are, but there are multiple part numbers. The one I got was 30001-16ES2NW. I don't know the P/N of the regular clutch, but I am told its $70 more. Bad dealer or bad clutch all I know is that at the end of of the day Nissan took me for a ride. :-(This nonsense about cheaper clutch material is utter BS.

PS. The replacement clutch I'm looking at is the SPEC stage 1 or stage 2 clutch. I doubt I need to replace my flywheel, but I'm looking at the Fidanza. Anyone run this and have problems?
