Feedback: Performance & Emissions after Y-pipe install

The flex pipe of my wife's 96 max is finished. It's gonna cost between 150-180 to have it replaced. So I was thinking I might as well install a new Budget/Warpspeed Y-pipe. But I would like to get feedback from those who have already installed Y-pipes on their cars if they were still able to pass inspection with it, considering it deletes two pre-cats. And was there a noticable gain in performance? Any info provided would help greatly.

Yes, a noticeable performance gain occurred (10-15hp)
Yes, you will pass emissions (as long as your stock cat is working well)

Word of advice: In the future read the stickies. They have a lot of information which may be of use to you.

Has anyone had any problems with their main cat failing as a result of too much work?

I just posted the following in the Canada forum yesterday:

Check out my AirCare numbers from March 2004 with the Budget Y-pipe installed:

HC Hydrocarbons g/km Max allowable=0.3700, Vehicle Reading=0.1964
CO Carbon Dioxide " Max allowable=6.2100, Vehicle Reading=0.8868
NOx Oxides of Nitrogen " Max allowable=0.9300, Vehicle Reading=0.8324

And my AirCare numbers from March 2002 before the Budget Y-pipe install:

HC Hydrocarbons g/km Max allowable=0.3700, Vehicle Reading=0.0053
CO Carbon Dioxide " Max allowable=6.2100, Vehicle Reading=0.0501
NOx Oxides of Nitrogen " Max allowable=0.9300, Vehicle Reading=0.0038

Needless to say, I passed with no problem after a 15 minute hwy drive. Our AirCare program is modeled after the California system.

Oh yeah, one more thing: this is with the stock cat as well.

Damn, I'd better be sure that my stock cat is 100% working correctly. Doesn't look like much slack.

what about upgrading to warpspeed's hi-flow cat as well. I'm already in there and I know this car has over 150,000 miles on it. Are they good units or should I look for one from magnaflow?

Lol I am in the same boat. I passed with flying colors in all emissions except for NOx ... I failed by like 200 or so points. See my thread complaining about it.

I passed all the pipe testing but my ecu is tossing a 0210 and a 0303. Either mechanic missed something or my O2 sensor is hosed. No tags for me until i figure it out...
