HELP! How to torque Illumina center bolt on rear.
HELP! How to torque Illumina center bolt on rear.
I installed the Illuminas in the rear and was having trouble tightening down the center bolt. so i clamped a vise grip on the top part of the threads that is flattened, and then proceeded to wrench it tighter. However, how are you to get a precise torque measurement when the socket from the torque wrench has to go over the top, leaving you no where to hold the piston in place. it just spins.
am i missing something here?
in case it matters, the car is sitting on the ground, all the weight on the stprings and i have the long travel rear mounts.
thanks.

wow, really? so i should just hand tighten them, then? i suppose that's why they supply two bolts. so i should loosen them since i tightened them down with a wrench, and then tighten them down by hand, right?

The center nut will bottom out on the threads and stop. Then put the locking nut on top (thats why it's provided) and give it a slight snug.
Thats how you "torque" down the center nut.
