knock sensor...
My 97 Maxima throws the code, my friends 96 throws the code and my brothers 95 throws the code. I no longer have my maxima, but from what I remember this was a pretty frequent issue with the 4th gen's correct me if I am wrong?!?! Im trying to help him out some, and I ran the tests on his ecu to determine the culpret for the CEL coming on, and its an engine coolant sensor and the knock sensor.
Obviously somethings is wrong with those two sensors otherwise they wouldnt be throwing the code. Recommend replacing the knock sensor asap after we check the megohms to determine its status?

I understand that the knock sensor detects engine vibration to then relays the information to the computer. But what exactly is going on when the knock sensor is throwing the code. Is it a bad sensor, or does it throw the code cause there is excessive engine vibration? And if the sensor is replaced that isnt going to fix an engine vibration problem.
