Probabilty of an axle breaking
Just a quick question here guys. Maybe a little noobish, but it's gotta happen some time or another. I know my cv axle boot is leaking grease, and has been for a little while. If I'm sitting still, and turn the steering wheel, it does click a little bit, but other than that, no driveability issues have been noticed.
So the noobie question of the day: what is the probability of an axle breaking under those conditions? I do not launch my car hard, and don't take it dragging at all yet. No intentional burnouts here either.
Also, how would a car react if the axle broke while driving (it's just one of those good things to know...)
I'm going away to college soon, and won't be regularly driving my car for a couple months, so if I can go without, I don't want to have to change it out. I have emissions problems that I have to denote my time to at this time, and this will free up a little bit. Thanks in advance for the help.
