Possible for timing chain to JUMP????

A mechanic suggested that my timing chain has jumped a tooth, that is why my car is having trouble starting, idling bad, and running weak.

I'm going to say if your chain somehow jumped even one tooth, it would barely run at all. Unless he pulled the t chain covers and verified the cam timing is indeed off, it's a guess at the very best. It's almost impossible to have a chain jump a tooth unless the tensioners were just 100% shot or missing. But you would be hearing all kinds of noises also.

What's going on man? You've been asking about your car's timing and lack of power a couple times now. Do you know for sure that's the issue?
Options have been suggested:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=422190
Have you tried anything yet other than thinking about timing? Mechanics aren't always right either....
I think we all want to know and help, but we gotta know whet else you've done.....

Correct. Thanks for pointing that out. hdiggeddy, I think your mechanic must be a moron because you have posted about 4-5 different threads on the same problem. Don't post seperate THREADS and make everyone start from the beginning. Wastes everyone's time. KEEP IT IN ONE THREAD.
