Hmmm. It would be lighter and technically stronger than the other cars from a structural POV. the moonroof and seats are not light items.

I prefer the moonroof too, but the car was in such good condition to pass up. I don't really like leather on a hot day.

I was curious so I went back to the FAQ stickies and I found this statement:
"(In Canada there is a model called the ES which is like an SE minus the BOSE, leather, sunroof, and spoiler (All standard on a Canadian SE). But, it does include the VLSD trans.)"
Is that what you have??

my trunk open button had to be pressed 3 or 4 times before the trunk opens. same thing with the remote. it used to be 1 try before the stealership worked on it.

I have a friend with a 1998 Nissan Maxima GXE and he has the trunk button on the door. He thought my lever was weird too. Maybe it's an SE feature? I duno, I have a GXE.

I hate the fact that my max is a 99 Cali, with it's associated and well known problems, such as the mother loving ks replacement. The color of my car is so light that a wash and wax, looks exactly the same as just a wash. Found this out yesterday after I waxed it for the first time. Spent 3 hours washing, drying, waxing, in 90 degree heat. The outcome looks just like it does when I put it through a auto car wash and let nature dry it out. Never again!! No more wax for this wh0re.
Ever since I came to the Org, I always think there's something wrong with my car. I'm under the hood at least twice a week, looking for a problem that does not exist. This car is driving me mad.

Worthless 4th and 5th gears. 5th gear should be like the 6th in the 5.5/6th gen.

One thing I hate about my max is that it's champange. The goldish color was stylish back in 1996 but now a days, it just doesnt fit.

I live in cali but the max was bought in florida (used to live in Tampa) so the ks isnt as bad.

how come the maxima doesnt have a fast version? well, a common one...i mean like every other car i can think of has different trims with different engines u know? ex..theres a sentra 2.0 and the se-r which is faster...altima 2.5 and 3.5...all maximas go the same speed...i dont get it...well, im sure there are many cars that are like the maxima in that respect...but i still wonder, i guess its just so no one has an advantage over anyone else??

I forgot one thing that I notice every time I drive on a bumpy road (that's everywhere in NYC) : The chassis! it flexes too much it's not stiff enough. You can feel it twist also on hard turns.

notchy shifting, creaks and rattles like rice krispies, chasis not stiff at all, torsion beam sucks, 4x4 gap (you can drop it, but then the car feels liek a tank)...etc

I assume you're in MS Paint. Click "Image", click "Attributes".

Because it's too big, it's front-wheel drive, and the chassis isn't remotely stiff enough. It'd be really expensive to develop a faster version with dynamics that most people could handle.

Yes, the chassis is my only complaint, and I freakin' hate it. It's like cheese!

well, gran prix has different engines, impala has different engines, camry has em, solara has em, lincoln LS, many big cars have faster versions, FWD too....i dont know, it is a "sports sedan" i think nissan could've tried to make a sportier, faster, bigger engine trim in the 4th gen

So are you saying you want a sportier version of the maxima? I don't think you could put a bigger engine than 3.5L in it and get it to fit. There's no way you could get a V8 to fit. When the 4th gen was made, the 3.5L was not yet developed.

The gran prix and some of the impalas have the buick 3.8L engine. It's one of the best V6's ever made along with the VQ of course. BTW, the Gran Prix and the Lincoln LS are in different classes than the maxima. Even then, the maxima is faster than all the cars you listed.

If you think about it, the Altima 3.5 and Maxima are "the sportier version." The 2.5L is the cheap, crappy engine.

I hate this recent problem of the head unit turning off and restarting, also that the car sometimes thinks its not in park and won't start (i put it in reverse and back to park and it starts), that sometimes it runs like a champ and other times it lags like an old lady, that it looks lifted (maybe because of the giant new tires I got, seriously balloon tires, MY GOD!) and the seats suck! after 15-20 min my back kills me, the ride is really not that exciting, but it is an old lady's semi-luxury car/grocery getter. So it is understandable that the auto sucks and everything feels squishy and week, very boring. But it is quite reliable, it starts when I want it to, and goes when I want it to, unlike my last car (89 Jetta GLI, which was a much more exciting ride, when it did decide to start and run). But every once and a while I like that everything is soft, the suspension, seats, steering, ect. kinda luxurious.... imagine that
