Clutch linkage making snapping noise - master cyl pushrod
Clutch linkage making snapping noise - master cyl pushrod
Have this minor, but annoying as hell problem.
My clutch pedal was making all kinds of squeaky noises, so I just put a few drops of oil in various moving joints, and all is well...almost.
The master cylinder pushrod linkage makes this annoying lous snapping noise on the return movement of the pedal (i.e when releasing it)...it seems like that part that connect to the pedal binds on the upper part of the hole it hooks into, and snaps back about halfway through the travel motion (hence the noise) The parts is a U-shaped bracked held to the pedal by a lock pin, and by a locknut to the pushrod. Anyone who's see this linkage will know what I'm talking about.
Anyone had this problem? Obviously all this stuff is in an awkward place, and hard to see/ play with...was just hoping someone has experience with fixing this. I do believe that joint is lubricated, so it's not just dry friction causing this.
I measured my pedal free play, and got 16 mm (0.63 in), which is within spec. In any case, the snap back happens before pedal enter the free play part of its motion.
Any other ideas/suggestions from the 5spd crowd or anyone else? Thanks all
