Whining sound at different speeds wtf

This is driving me nuts:
@ 45MPH there's this loud humming noise coming from what sounds like the driver side front tire (that general area). go to 50 and it's gone. @ 60 it's back and then past 65 it's gone.. it's loud and sounds like how a cheap tire would hum on the highway.. anybody have any ideas?

It may be your wheel bearing going out.

Wheel Bearing. A very common problem with our cars. It isnt that expensive you'll probable spend, $79.00 including the two grease seals...

I thought it might be the wheel bearing, so I tried something I read on the forums..that is: make a sharp turn taking pressure off the suspected wheel bearing, if the sound stops then it probably isn't the wheel bearing. Not sure though.

Killcrap: that sounds expensive. Can you provide any more info? The transmission shifts fine so far and I have a B&M 26,000 GVW rated cooler.

I think I maybe having the same problem. My whining noise goes on an off at different speeds. First I thought it was some kind of rubber making a high pitch squeal but im begining to think if it was rubber it would have worn out by now or melted. Does your noise sound like a high pitch squeal? and does it get louder the faster you go and it softer and finally stops when you are at a complete stop? this noise is very irritating but i cant here it right now because its too hot over here to ride with the windows rolled down.

I can hear it with the windows up, windows down will just drown out most of the noise. It's not a high pitched squeal, the only way I can describe the sound is that of a noisy tire. The sound is intermittent, from 37-42 MPH it whines with 40MPH being the loudest. 50MPH I can't hear anything and it comes back but not as loud @ 60MPH. I can't figure out what it is, and I've ruled out the possibility of it being a wheel bearing.

If it is the wheel bearing and it is not changed in time it will start sounding crunchy. At that point the hub assembly may need to be replaced as well.
