Polished aluminum rims?

anyone ever heard of someone polishing their aluminum wheels? me and my friend started to undertake it last night. probably wouldnt have, but his dad was retarded and painted the rims black. they looked alright, but then we found out it was spray paint, and not car paint. its a pain but it should look really nice. he also painted his maxima himself and it looks really good, anyone heard of that on here either?
