Mevi question.
Mevi question.
I just wired up that bad boy (may I add at 5-7k it sounds like a monster) The harlan switch i have the LED doesn't work. I wired up an led to my dash (Next to my dimmer switch). The switch says mevi and it has a green light. I tested the light on the battery and it worked. I sodderd it to the LED on the switch and it doesn't light up. Is there anyway I can activate that light? I put power and ground to the led on the switch. DO I just put power to the long led of the led on the switch and ground the other to the battery? Or can I ground it to the battery and the other one power to the TACH wire?
what did? I bought the whole mevi for 450 everything with it. I polished the manifold and kept it on for 4 months. Yesterday at school, I decided to finish the rest. So I did it with another friend of mine. Im just wondering where else can i tap that light.
IMO .. Harlan is
But it has worked flawlessly for Stehpen Max and Dave B .. but for the res of us, it really sucks.
I'm sorry, but you're a
in my book if you have the MEVI on for 4 mos before wiring it .... Did you at least have a JWT ECU to go with it during it's non/vi'd timeframe?
Also, sounds like you may not have it wired correctly if it's not lighting up .. might mean you're RPM signal isn;t reaching where it should be.
Do you have it set to coil/cyl? Not V6 .. as it needs to read coil packs.
Are you using the wire from the coil?

Make shure the LED has the correct resistors soldered on or you will blow it. If I remember correctly, I wired the + of the LED to the signal on the harlan and grounded the other to the chassis.

Now the mevi doesn't want to work. I have the instructions for the harlan switch. Everyone said if the LED doesn't light up theres a problem. My mevi worked opened at 5100 without the light working. Now I tried to reset the thing and it doesn't light up and now it doesn't even work. So can anyone help me out here....
It wires the same with the exception of the tach signal wire from the ECU rather than the coil wire.
My Summit has not "wigged out" in the 2 years I've had it. And the red LED is always on when powered, and the Green turns on when activated.

because your very knowledgable. My mevi worked but yet I wired something up wrong... It could have just been a blown led?? dont you think. Anyway sure why not spend $50 bucks to buy a switch..
Where can I buy another harlan switch
common sense should tell you, if his buisness isn't doing so well, why not go somehwere else.
If it wigged out once, odds are you will have the problems that a lot of other members have had ... it will do it again and again and frustrate the holy hell out of you. I went through 2 harlans (100$) before I got smart ...
I tried helping you ....

With the summit one Everything plugs in as the harlan did
I have a relay on my harlan one. My tach is wired to the TAM screw then I have another set of wires going to the solenoid one from the relay to the solenoid and another one to ground. The other one is going to battery power. Everything worked just fine the 1st time I hooked it up.
Get a SUMMIT .... Get on w/ life.
Seeing as the results with other memebers, there seemed to be a trend, and it would seem to screw up the electrinics within the board to the point where it would not work anymore.
With that said, your board has 2 things wronmg with it.
1.) It wigged out once, so that is just a sign that it will continue.
2.) Your LED is out, meaninf it only needs a new LED or, the switch has more complex problems.
I've had mine(Harlan) wired many different ways, exaclty like yours, w/o a relay, w/ a relay to the coil etc etc ... My conclusion came after my 2nd Harlan died, I;m trying to tell you this so that you don;t go a day you don;t have to w/o a functioning VI, as well as save you money from buying another Harlan ...
Im not asking that, Read what I said. Will the summit SWITCH hook up just like the HARLAN switch does. Im lookin at the paper and from what I understand:
-Red wire- +12 volt (battery)
-Black (Ground)
-White (TACH)
-Grey it says it provides ground for a circuit and will open upon reaching the selected RPM limit. Does that go to ground as well?
-Yellow is normally open and provides ground for a circuit and will open upon reaching the selected RPM limit
So what do I do with the yellow and Grey wire?
