Is is possible to program a 2001 keyfob on a 95? $5.50 + $4 shipping is cheaper than any older max fob.

I think i've heard or read that with our 4th gen key fobs, it could be done without the nissan hand held scanner, anything newer than that..........it would...I"m not too sure.

 

In 95-99 you program the remote from the driver's seat, no scanner. I guess I need to check how to program a 2001 remote, and if its the same it might work...

Your 99 key has a computer chip in it. The 95 to 98 keys don't.

 

I have a 95 Max, a 96 Max and a 99 I30t and the keyfobs are all interchangable.

The question is: does the 2001 keyfob send a compatable signal?

BTW: There appears to be some misconception about programing 4th gen key fobs. When you run through the procedures (in the FAQ I think). You don't actually change the signal the key fob is sending. What you are doing is telling the Max's computer to accept the code from that particular fob.

 

I heard the 99 keys have a chip, but this shouldn't effect the key fob...

 

I'm sorry, I misread the thread. All keyfobs are interchangeable...

 

i know for sure that a 2000 keyfob does not work for 2002 year model. i can try 98 vs. 2002 and see what happens.

 

Also a related question but do the 5th gen remotes have the auto window down feature?

I am fairly certain that a 2000 remote will NOT work on a 4th Gen. car.

 

My bad, that's all keyfobs for the 4th Gens...

Yes. They go down on my 95 also, I was just asking if any one around here knows if the 5th gens have it also. I guess I will have to ask them.

 

no wont work....different frequency used on the newer fobs....u can buy 4thg en ones at Autozone

Can someone with a 99 Max please post a pic of their Keyless FOB. I've seen 3 different looking kinds and am just unsure which one it the one that came wit my car. (I never got 1 when i brought the car used)
