Serpentine Belt

Anyone replace these on their own. A Mechanic told me I was getting cracks in mine and should replace it ASAP.

How hard is this?

Go to the how tos, should be in there or get a haynes maual ...

Loosen a few bolts, take wheel off, put in new belts, tighten bolts ... put wheel back on ...-------->

It's pretty straightfoward.... And only things you really need are a few sockets and common sense.

Why was your car at your mechanics?

Ok, I read the How To's, it just mentioned it took the guy forever who was doing it. Wanted to make sure he wasn't lieing

I took it Grease Monkey where they told me this, I didn't have time to change my oil this time around. I need to do a visual before I do this or have someone else do it.

the front belt is easy (A/C - ALT), but the other (PS) is a little tricky. 1 hour tops.

Also, try not to listen to the people at retail chain stores such as Grease Monkey, Pep boys, etc. They tend to go after your wallet.

1995 140,000 miles.

Yeah they've told me stuff before and I usually check it myself before I do anything.

Do you know if either of the belts have been replaced before? What about hoses - have any been replaced before?
