Starter motor grease

My starter use to "whurr" right after the engine started when I first got the car. I took the starter apart regreased everything and it was fine until recently when it started getting cooler in the morning, so its starting to "whurr" again in the mornings now. I want to regrease it once more, but the question is which grease should I use that can still be thin enough in the cold weather for the starter to be able to retract in time instead of having the whurring? (I used napa silicone synthetic grease last time)

I have regreased mine before. I used a lithium grease from walmart. There is a write on it at http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php. I believe you can find it under the "starter noise fix" tab.

Every two months is too much. Do you clean the splined shaft very well? There must be some dried up grease in there. Once cleaned up and regreased, a starter should be good for at least a few years, or longer.

I used a synthetic EP grease.

Liberally greased all the points of moving contact. There is no need to pack it full.

Did it about 2-1/2 years ago and I have not had any problems since (even on those -20 F morning starts)
