RPM's dipping low

I have a 5spd gxe and recently the car has been idling very low after the engine has warmed up. Whenever Im stopped at a light or stop sign, the rpm's drop to arouns 200-3oo and sometimes the car stalls (this is with the clutch in all the way). I've tried putting some injector cleaner in my gas but hasnt fixed much.

Also, my CEL has magically gone away... I had 3 codes before (knock, o2 and engine temp) but never fixed them. Now the light has just turned off. Does this mean my ECU is dead? How much to replace one? WOuld this fix my rpm problem?

If you ECU is dead the cars not going to move.

Its your temp sensor, just replace it

Clean your IACV and see if it helps smooth out the idle. Instructions are in the stickies.

ive had the same problem when my cars warms up. Its a 97 auto and when warm at a full stop it drops to about 500 rpms and it has this rought idle feel but as soon as i give it gas it stops.ive been putting it in netural. I thought maybe it was time to clean my throttle body again its been about 10k miles since ive done it. With the temp sensors i never got an CEL or anything but my temp gauge has been going crazy lately. How its crazy is when going close to wot or at wot the gauge will just tack up and down, never goes hot but will dance up and down between the bottom and mid range like its got the speed dance. Im still wondering what it could be.....

the last thing i cleaned was the IACV about 2 months ago and ive also tried changing the idle rpm speed also but it has no effect no matter how high i set the rpms. its all in drive or reverse.

Reset the ECU (instructions in the stickies) and wait to see if the codes come back. If they don't, you're good

But I have heard of the CEL bulb behind the dash burning out, so you might want to check that as well.

you're thinking of the coolant temp sender.the
engine temp sensor has nothing to do with the gauge. it tells the ecm what temp the engine is running, when to turn the fans on and off and weather the engine is safe. it's only $26. i'm going to change mine cause mines doing the same thing. i'll let you know.

spend the $20 and replace the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor.. you threw a code for it.. if that happens its on the way out.. its very cheap - reseting your ECU will clear the code til it fails again

No matter how destroyed the KS is it won't cause your RPMs to dip or your car to stall .. it just retards the iginition timing so theres less/no advance.. again its not going to make you car stall

Your coolant temp sensor is used by the ECU, your problem is with the engine temp sending unit, its located right next to the Coolant temp sensor
