"Twang" noise coming from strut towers...

Folks,

I've been getting a "twang" noise coming from my front struts. I've replaced them about 50K miles ago with KYB AGX (which I love) and H&R springs. Is this a sign that the strut tower bushings are on the way out? I've ridden in a Max with 130K miles with original struts and don't hear it. Ideas?

I have been getting the thump/twang noise as well after the struts were replaced with GR2's last week. The driver's side turned out to be the spring that was not seated correctly, which the shop corrected. 1 week later, the passenger side is acting up. It thumps or twangs whenever I turn the steering wheel almost to the end. Also, whenever I go over big speed bumps (like the ones in a parking lot), the spring/strut squeaks.

Is this another case of spring not seated correctly or the strut bearing is bad. My 98SE has 101000 miles.

Jack your car up. Put some heavy gloves on and give your springs a little turn with your hand. Like a half inch-1 inch. Make sure the end of the spring is in the seat on the strut and I hope you put the mounts on correctly. Arrow pointing out.

Should take care of the problem with the half inch twist on the spring

And lube the ends with some WD-40 or the equivalent

Swaybar endlinks can also cause squeeks.
