Could it be a fuel leak????????

OK, Monday I got to school early. I was just hanging out in my car in the school’s parking lot because I had some time to kill. I open my door to let some air in, and I start smelling gas. So I was like may be its one of the cars parked next to me. So when I got home that evening I open my car again and I started smelling gas again, so I make sure the cap is on tight ect… I thought the smell would just go away. Well today is Thursday and the smell is still here, the smell is only noticeable after my car has been running for a while. I didn’t spill any gas because the last time I filled up was last week, and everything was normal. Even with the tank almost on empty I can still smell it. Just for a little more detail it that gas smell you get when you’re at the pump and filling your car up. Could it be some type of leak????????

Did you look under the car for a drip/fuel?

A similar thing happened in my previous car, it was two seperate incidences. The first one, gas would seep out of the filler cap - the rubber had cracks in it - so I replaced the cap and all was well.... a few months later I developed a drip - the fuel tank had rusted through. I had to replace the tank.

No, the rubber on the gas cap is fine, no leaks that i can see. May be one or all of the hoses needs to be replaced.

I had the same problem. I went crazy looking for a leak. It turned out to be a bad O-Ring on the top of the fuel tank
