Fittment issues?
How can I make sure I don't get any fittment issues trying to replace the timing chain tensioner? What part should I use for a 95 MAXIMA who's rattling is driving me insane. The one from the write-up? (13091-31U26)

It's pretty easy. Take off the 4 bolts on black plate on the timing chain cover (closest to the firewall). The tensionner is right behind it. 2 bolts to take off (MAKE SURE you do not loose anything in the timing chain covers, stuff a cloth in there and be careful.
Then take the new tensionner and replace the old one, it's a b*tch, but doable. The rattle was also driving me crazy but now it's completely fixed, no need to change the guide.

Dexter - you can't replace the guide without pulling the whole timing chain cover off... so you might just want to buy the tensioner.
matty had a thread all about this a few days ago...

Read that thread - he had some concerns about the updated tensioner not fitting through the plate opening...

# 1307031U00 or # 1307031U01? and if it's neither can someone give me the right part number (and would I still have to go to the dealership to get it?)

I am not sure what the correct part number is. I would recommend getting it at the dealer. Call Dave Burnette - his number is posted in one of the Stickies either in the 4th Gen or 5th Gen forum. He should be able to guide you with the correct part number. You may also want to call Courtesy Nissan - they will definitely be able to get you the right part number and installation info.
