All Auto Maxes step inside. (vid of accelleration)

It's very cheap here.
I drop off my car & when I pick it up from the shop, it's a 5spd - cost $500 for everything....only thing is they take my auto tranny (which I don't need anyway).
But my wife loves the auto so I don't know if i'll get to convert.

dr-rjp - what difference does it make if it's an SE or not? Or what year it is???
Yes it's an SE and it's a 98....
If you have nothing good to say, there's a million other threads here so go and try to find a friend in a different thread.

In reality, we basically have the same transmission and engine, so that is why I thought a comparative test is in order.
And, I was serious about you doing another video with the holes plugged and the tranny left in Drive.
Think about my first post to you. I was startled by the fact that your transmission was not shifting quick enough.
Sorry about the joke at the end. That was meant for other readers.

I still have the original airbox so i can pop it back in. (for the hacked one, I used a box that I bought at a junkyard - i don't like to glue things back together).
I still have a PCV Valve that's sitting in my garage that I need to change (never changed it) . . . does the PCV valve even do anything as far as power goes???
>does the PCV valve even do anything as far as power goes???
A dirty PCV valve can cause a rough idle, and that is about it.
Another reason I asked about the year of your Max is that there are differences among the five 4th Gen model years. For example, beginning in 1999, the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system consists of a stepper motor-type EGR valve, an engine temperature sensor, and the PCM (computer module) which regulates the EGR flow rate by reversing the direction of the stepper motor to open and close the EGR valve in small increments.
ON 1995 to 1998 models, the EGR system has a EGR valve, a solenoid, EGR temperature sensor, and a transducer valve to control backpressure.
The bottom line is that the 1999 system is far more efficient and more responsive than the pre-1999 system. What does that mean in terms of performance?
I don't know exactly, but I feel the change was done more to reduce nitrogen oxides than to increase power.

Yes, MEVI is the next thing.
The thing is, all 3.0l V6 Maximas here (euro but same engine), have MEVI's. They're very easy to aquire and very very cheap.
I'm hunting for one from a newer model now, a lot of 96 maximas i've seen, I'd like one from a 98 or 99 (not that it makes any difference but it's just newer). I'm also going to swap out the ECU to see if there's any difference between mine with the MEVI and the one I take out from the car that I buy the MEVI from.
I have a personal friend that deals only with ECU's, chips, etc... He claims he can mod my ECU. Dyno's are also very cheap here so the plan is to Dyno the car the way it is now, then dyno it with the MEVI and my stock ECU, then Dyno it with the MEVI and the european ECU, and finally Dyno it with the MEVI and my ECU after modifications.
Like I mentioned, everything is SO much cheaper here so I don't see why I wouldn't do it. Hopefully I can give back to the board for the things I've learned.
