Yes I read it, but the plastic smell couldn't have been attributed to the bads. Never heard of pads melting and burning.

There's one other thing I do that may help especially with the rears. Sometimes when you turn the piston to retract it, the rubber seal will try to turn as well. I break the bond between the rubber seal and the piston with a small pick tool. I just run it between the rubber and the piston all the way around then I can turn the piston without having to fight the rubber seal binding up as well.

I've smelled hot pads before and they smelled plasticky to me. There are various different materials that pads are made out of and there are lots of other possibilities so who knows for sure in this case... but I'd bet it was just the pads.
