oil pressure sensor

First I want to thank everybody here . Me being a total newbie, I've already changed my brakes, cleaned my TB, changed my oil, and replaced both my axles (that pass side is a tough one). And thanks to Tom from NJ for doing my shocks!

Anyway, when I was replacing my axles, I broke off my oil pressure sensor. I bought a new one (from autozone) but no matter which socket I use to removed the old one, it doesn't fit. I've tried everything and can't get it off. Is it a special tool? How do I remove it and put the old one in there?

thanks

Use vice grips or channel locks.

You're not such a noob if you did all those things on your own. Some people still bring their cars to a garage to do their spark plugs.

Took 9 posts to get the right answer, the correct tool for the job which cost a lot less then a good set of channel locks.

Sometimes this place amazes me with intelligence.

Just ask for an Oil pressure sensor and they'll know what it is. To replace, unplug the electrical harness and unscrew the old unit. Screw in the new unit and reconnect the plug. I suggest doing this while doing an oil change to minimize the mess.

scary isnt it?

I was in the middle of removing mine, trying to use adjustible pliers as advised on motorvate. FUNK DAT! there is no way to properly remove and install the switch with out the socket, at least for me. So I had to go out and buy one. What a life saver.
