Maybe there are arguments because there is no such thing as the "best pad" or "best rotor". It all depends on how you drive, and what your priorities are, e.g. less fade, less dust, less noise, looks, auto x-ing, etc.
If you just want a quality brake setup, with no frills, but good all-around performance, I would recommend:
1. Brembo blanks or OEM blanks (whatever you find cheaper)
2. OEM pads or Raybestos Quiet Stop Pads.
Search www.rockauto.com for good prices. There is also a group deal going on right now for some pad/rotors combos (including excellent pricing on Brembo blanks).

I spoke with Steve at SCO for about 10 minutes over brakes and such. I wound up getting Rotora Slotted Rotors with Axxis Ultimate pads. That should give you an idea as to what both Steve and I considered "best." They're due in the mail tomorrow too, so I can always give you a mini review after I install them tomorrow night if you'd like
