Eibach or Tein

I have Tein S-techs on my car right now... They handle pretty well matched with the supporting suspension mods I have... Not to mention their ride height is nearly perfect....
I had eibachs on my first car with no other mods other than struts, and I think it handled alot better than this car did....
I'm trying to decide if the .7" higher ride height is worth the performance gains...
Does anyone on here have experience as to the differences of the handling of the two springs???
Thanks guys!
Mike

No... its the ride height im worried about... It'll look alot higher to me with the eibachs... but theyll handle alot better...I hope
I wish I could get D2's.....I'm tryin to get this car as tight as I can before the dragon run OCT 7th....The sway bar links are going all the way out... struts are going to the stiffest setting... air pressure in the new tires is goin up.... along with anything else I can do

The Eibach drop is lower then advertised. You probably wount notice that added height that much. You will gain a little suspension travel which is actually very good and will give you a better ride and most likely, as Eibach's are known for, better handling as well.

The Tein S-Tech is a bit to low and leaves you with very little suspension travel which in turn gives a jittery ride. Lower isn't always better, give the Eibachs a shot.

Personally I think regardless of the drop, it all depends on the tires you have. I'm on H&R's with my stock 16's. Although it does handle a lot better than stock, the breaking limits are pretty low because the tires just don't stick. My bro has 18's and progress springs and it handles a lot better than mine. Once he took his rims off and put the stock ones back on the limits became at even lower speeds than mine. As for the RSB, I love mine. Even though the rear breaks out pretty quickly at higher speed turns the car is also easy to correct. To the original post, from what I hear Eibachs are the best spring you can get, only second to coilovers. Just my .02

I have had both the Tien S-techs and Eibachs installed on my car with my KYB AGX, and the Eibachs rode more smooth and seemed to handle better.

Get the Eibach's. I have the S-Tech's the spring rate is too low for it's drop. I've ridden in the Eibach's also it's noticably better through corners and turns. It's a shame Eibach doesn't have the Race versions for our cars.

i'm considering the skyline body kit for my maxima, along with 19" rims. if i were to purchase the s.tech springs would there be ample clearance for the front bumper? (i know the eibach's are much better, but i'm leaning a little more toward looks)

If you are going strictly for looks then get the s-techs. You'll just have to be really careful not to mess your kit up.

Get the alignment set up prior to the kit, I wouldnt have been able to make it up the ramp without ripping off the bumper. Also, there are speed bumps at my apartment but it cleared them fine.

i havent tried teins but i own the eibachs and i have no complaints. i know the car looks sweeter lower to the ground but for all around purpose and performance, eibachs is my choice.

I love how the Teins look.. but i'm more performance oriented than I am for likes right now...
Grant, If you want to pick em up, we could work something really good out...
like..... free installation of your new struts and the teins, and you wouldnt have to pay shipping

Man... I just installed my rear struts... tightened up the sway bar... put a little more tire pressure in the tires... and turned the struts up a little...
To make a long story short:
There are some twisties around my house that when I started stock, I maxxed the turns out around 35.....
I just did em at a little over 72... and I wasn't squeeling yet.....

I just got the Tein S-tech/KYB AGX combo, i love it. A bit harsh at times, but it handles great.

The ride height is not the only factor in handling. Here are some other parameters to look at.

Springs: The stiffness of the front suspension relative to the rear suspension (otherwise known as balance) is also important. Eibachs tend to be very good in this area.

Shocks/Stabilizer bar: The shock settings and stabilizer bar settings are also important for handling balance. It is best to have shocks that have a wide range of adjustment for tuning.

Alignment: This is very critical. The front end alignment has a huge effect in how the car handles, in terms of steering stability, responsiveness, and in preventing understeer.

Frame setup: I have subframe connectors, Stage-II front lower tie bar, along with front and rear strut tower bars. All of these product hugely improve the ride and handling.

All else being equal -- it is hard to fix the handling of the car with any other suspension hardware if the springs are not matched well in the balance.
If I recall correctly, the S-Techs are around 250LB/IN in the front and 280LB.IN in the rear. This really isn't a good balance for a Maxima. Keeping the front and rear springs near the same stiffness is better suited to a rear-drive car that has more even weight distribution front to rear. A front-drive car is naturally front-heavy and needs all the help it can get from the rear suspension to control the body roll and to dynamically take some of the loading off of the front tires in a turn.
