First mod ever cool

I finally borrowed tools from a friend and took the lower intake airbox out and drill a hole( more like a rectangle though) on the right side.
I took it for a test drive, and didnt feel anything while i was driving normally.
Then i took it to nearby highway and went upto 90mph, when the rmp was over 3800 i could hear some noise(i do not know if it is real noise or just perception).
And thats about it. Am i supposed to feel anything more than this. Is my hole too small.
My hole is a rectangle about 2inches by 5 inches.
Should drill a bigger hole or drill a hold in the front side? or what
My filter in side the box was kida dirty, should i get it changed.
I'm planning on buying the exhaust tip, cuz its so boring on the way the school. would any ebay tip fit mine, and is it hard to install?
I am a

All for sound, not much else. But if you want more, look into a cone filter.

a CAI can give you the sound, but depending on the type you get you maybe sacrificing power at a certain part of the power band.

Sell your maxima and buy a civic with a large ricer exhaust if you want sound.

When I hacked the airbox I put a 2" hole in my airbox I got a nice deep sound at WOT, but I also lost power, so I patched it back up.

It will only help the power if your stock airbox was too restrictive from the beginning. It is not too restrictive on the Maximas, but on other cars the airboxes are very restrictive.

I like the stock box just because most other intake setups out there will just give you sound, while sacrificing some power at some part of your powerband.

What I did was just take out the resonator box since I found it to be restrictive to the setup. Its that sealed box that the scoop branches into to silences the turbulent air. You might wanna just do that. Slight growl at the low end, sounds stock when you get it up there and I found no loss in power.

Might wanna check it out.

Doesn't taking that out hurt the filtering system?

You won't notice it just driving normally. You have to FLOOR it (WOT) for there to be sound.

Also did you remove the intake snorkel yet? Removing that gives you some more sound too.
