I recently discovered just how cool an intake sounds on a maxima, and i was wondering if it would hurt anything to remove the lower part of the airbox and have the filter mounted to the top portion acting kind of like a short ram intake? I know it wont be as good as a CAI, but it is my fathers car and theres no way hes gonna buy one. I know it will sound good but will it be the least bit effective?

 

ive done that. the secrets been out for quite a while thanks to BrianV. search for "BrianV's intake mod" or something similar.

 

are you talking about using the stock panel filter?? or using a cone filter? yeah, look for the brianV mod
