I have a CE Y-pipe, CE High flow cat, and recently got a Stillen cat-back put on. It sounds good when you're barely on it, but under WOT or even medium acceleration it sounds incredibly raspy and ugly. it makes my car sound kinda broke as he1l. i hate it. i've had all my gaskets changed and had 2 exhaust shops look at it and no one knows what the deal is. i think it has something to do with the stillen exhaust cause it didn't make that raspy noise with my old muffler. I like the Stillen performance gains though! ;-)

If you would've read about the product extensively (i.e. on here where there are independent reviews) you would have known that the Stillen cat-back is notorious for this type of sound.

I doubt it gave you more than 3 hp :

Its because its a non resonated bpipe, its not the muffer. Weld a resonator to the bpipe.

Any muffler shop can do it for you.

I have a custom 2.5" catback with a resonator, and the stillen muffler... it still sounds like trash... it's loud, raspy, you name it....
I will be taking it off very soon

you can use a regular resonator, another underbody muffler, a glasspack in someinstances. depends on your budget

the resonator wont take the rice sound you have away, itll just quiet it down a tad.. you have the major things you need for the gains, which is the y-pipe, and the cat. cause they eliminate the most restriction out of your enitre exhaust.. if you want to shut the car up, and keep the gains, just but a stock muffler back on it. the stillen muffler at best only gives you about 2 hp.. if that. id keep the b-pipe that came with the stillen, cause you lost the resonator.

toss the unequal y pipe and get headers or get an equal y pipe made. that will solve the retarded sound.

OMG. Finally somebody that thinks just like me. Unequal length y-pipe is the pits as far as sound is concerned. Low and dump-truck sounding.

Invalid post, because it wont matter what type of cat-back you have, but moreso, your y-pipe being equal length or not.

Stillen has an "improved design" y-pipe ... Their last version was equal length, and this new one tries to be, more than others.

Everything else being equal, an equal length exhaust will be less buzzy and quieter than an unequal length setup. It's all about keeping the exhaust pulses as seperate as possible. Broaner tested this. Open headers vs. open y-pipe and the latter was louder.

Uhh the greddy has a built in resonator, hence the different sound, catbacks dont all sound the same you know.

I might add headers to the project while I'm at it, althought if I go turbo I wont buy the cattman ones...anyways... I have budg. y, stock cat, resonated budg. B and stillen rear section and i think it sounds quite good. Its very deep, not very buzzy, and very loud when step on it. I like it a lot and have gotten many good comments on it.
