can I pass inspection by resetting SEL?

New law in PA, cars cannot have SEL light on essentially. I wanted to know if I could pass the inspection just by resetting it, or will the mechanics detect the problem anyways?

Thanks

If you reset it, you have to drive around for a few days or so (it varies depending on driving condtions, but plan on about 100 miles or so of driving), before the system goes into the ready state after resetting the ECU. So if you reset the ECU and go straight for the test, you will fail, because they will detect the not-ready state. Bottom line, you have to drive around for a few days with the light off otherwise you will fail.

I passed an emissions test here by resetting a rear 02 sensor code. Passed the test and the code was back about a week later.

if they hook it up to a machine they can tell if u did it cause the code wont be gone until u drive it fo a while....but if they just look for the CEL light and dont hook it up....sure reset it drive in get teh sticker and off u go...of course if the light comes on right away u can always yank the bulb

Do we have an exact figure then? Is it 100 miles? 120 miles? How many miles I wonder to clear the memory (or whatever)?
