where to get rpm signal?

dont hate but ive seen like 10 differnt posts but no one says what to tap for a rpm source that is the best. i will take a risk and assume if i take the gauge cluster out and splice into the green wires screw on the back that is a clean rpm signal? or should i splice somwhere else? just need to know and im sick of looking for the answer lol -Ryan

Don't those big tachs tie in somewhere in the steering wheel?

I may be wrong, but I thought It was somewhere in the wheel base. 3 wires or something?

Easier place is the #1 coil pack. Forgot exactly which color is the signal wire though.

tap it off the ecu so you don't have to run it thru the firewall.

well ditched the harlan for a summit, still trying to tap the ECU for rpm signal now. i used a quick connect on the Green wire with a white stripe was that right? cause it didnt work on my falty harlan lol. how come in Jimes pinout from his site it says the tachometer wire is Green only not green w/ white stripe? if im right then i should be fine with the summit like that right?

It really doesnt matter, The wire you want is white with a green stripe. It's next to a couple purple wires

I have mine wired to the TAM screw.
