after 2 days at Nissan...nothing but a guess

my car spent two days at nissan for the "diagnostic test" for the stalling hesitation, and sputtering issue i've been tryin to solve. nfg....they can't say for sure. 70/30 chance it's the mafs or tps. wtf !!!! i don't know why i bothered but at least i feel better that they don't know either !!!

anybody have a mafs for sale ? i'll check the classifieds

here's the original thread....

Its an aggrivating feeling when you take your car to be diagnosed thinking you'll finally get answer, only to get a couple of guesses.

The Maf Hayens says to check with a multimeter but I've never been able to pull a reading. Have you tried checking your MAF and TPS with a multimeter?

If you have any max friends around, meet up swap Mafs and go for a drive, swap back mafs, try with tps, then try both.

I would find a local max to swap coils with and swap the MAF with. There are plenty of ORG members in NJ - I'm sure someone will be able to help you out - just buy them lunch

Post in the regional forums... you might find some folks willing to help you out.

i checked the mafs awhile back and it was at spec and i just tested and cleaned the tps and that checked out too. since it's an intermitten problem, it's hard to say for sure whether either one works 100% through their entire operating range.

not sure if anyone's close since im new to the max crowd, i think lanky's around 50 miles away, but he's havin issues too..........

Yup, if there's no codes, the Nissan monkeys just . Once they actually have to THINK about what's wrong, it all goes to hell. And as you can see, it becomes "replace shat until it runs" type of thing.

You can check both on your own with a multimeter from here:
http://www1.autozone.com/servlet/UiB...3d801f4e65.jsp

Along with a host of other sensors that could be the problem. If it runs well when cold, then runs bad when warm, it could be something as simple as the coolant temp sensor. But it could be the 02, coils, cas, cps, etc........ Be as descriptive as possible with the problem, we can probably figure it out here.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=425095 80% of us have this....
here's the other thread that explains my problem, most of you probably read this one

here's my best quick explanation...100% random, hot, cold, neutral, drive, right away or after driving awhile. loads up, smokes black, stalls, sputters, hesitates, horrable mpg, idle-2800 rpms....did the cts...nfg !

You have an air/fuel control issue going on.
My first guess would point me twards the MAF sensor for sure.
