And yet all the fastest all motor maximas have an intake... go figure. Sortof throws a wrench in the "stock intake > all" argument doesn't it?

Anyhow, Ypipe is good for about 12-16whp.

I went with a OSCAI, cold air part of the intake into my fender, and the stock airbox. Right now on my new car I just have a hacked air box, but plan on doing the same to it. The Injen "CAI" sucks, but the real CAI proved to give the lowest ambient temperature out of the short ram, Injen, and the CAI. I felt more low end with the CAI personally. I went to the track and ran a 15.9 with the y pipe and hacked air box, two weeks later, went back with the CAI, ran a 15.4. Only mod I did was the CAI. Not saying the CAI will give you .4, but its somethin to think about.

not trying to be a pain but is there really a C A I cause the air in the intake would heat up as it travels thru the hot piping then into a hot TB and so on... unless u insulate the piping HMMMMM....

there were tests done, and the CAI with the tube into the fender showed to have the lowest ambient temperature between the Injen, short ram, and the CAI

I see how you could think this, I guess. While it is true that the air in the bay will heat any air that goes into the TB, if you start with colder air in the first place you end up with a lower temperature entering the TB. If the air inside the engine bay is 20 degrees warmer than that outside, you still end up with 20 degrees cooler entering the TB no matter what the engine bay heat does to the entering air. Engine heat can and will only heat up the intake air so much.

well becuase of the design....it uses a Helmholtz resonator which actually reduces air turbulence allowing for better air/fuel atomization.........plus is "stores" air for better throttle response......thr CAI will prolly give u some power up top,,,u might lose a little down low....for autos stock....if u drive an NA car with more mods than just a Y-pipe.....say pully...cams....00VI or MEVI than u may benefit more formn the CAI...true cold air that is...but from Previous dyno graphs the Torque curve is better with stock...either way its a differnce of about 2hp so i guess it ur personal preference...me STOCK.....

actually, with a CAI, you get more low end and lose a little top end, and vice versa with the short ram intake.
