spring problems
spring problems
I am installing lowering springs, the front ones went on without a real problem, when we went to take the lower bolt off of the rear strut and could not get it off, has anyone else had a problem with this, what can i do? it has been a very bad night, not only do i now have a car with a lowered front end only, i have had 6 drunk frat boys threaten to crush mine and my freind's skulls for about 10 min, i have had beer poured on me by said frat boys, while i went to walmart to try and get somthing to get the bolt off i had a half gallon of milk poured on my car, and last but not least when i took my half finished suspension mod for a little spin my laptop decided to go flying off the roof, i have tried pb blaster and have broken 2 craftsman ratchet drives and a 17mm socket. when 4 rolled around i decided to give it up, anyone wanna help me out?

A big 1/2 inch drive breaker bar, a 6 point quality socket and some muscle will break the bolt loose. If the nut spins in the cage after your break the bolt loose, wedge a screwdriver in there to secure it tightly.
I had the exact same problem when i put my eibachs on... Turned out that long back when I had NTB put struts on for me (back before I knew what I was doing) the jerk with the impact wrench over tightned it.
I tried breaker bars, liquid wrench and everything.
me, my dad, and my friend all tried to break loose the bolt holding the rear strut and couldn't. I took it back to NTB and one guy tried his impact wrench and it didn't work. then they guy who had worked on my car before brough his impact over and it worked instantly. Appearently the dude had a really powerfull impact wrench... I guess you have to stand over these guys and insist that they use a torque wrench...

Got them off, i think the previous owner had aftermarket struts installed and they got overtightened just like 3dman. after geting some sleep and went to sears and got replacement tools, we got out the torch and heated the nut and they came right off, now im lowered and stiffened, i love it. thanks for the help.
