OK Im confused...

I changed my fuel filter today. Now my car won't even try to start... Here's the story: I pulled the fuel pump fuse before and crank the engine a couple of times to get the fuel pressure down. Changed the filter, put everything back together, fuses back to where they belong, started the car and everything was fine. I drove it around the block and everything worked fine. I started it a couple times and went back inside. 4 hours later I go to start it and nothing. Things turn on in the cabin, and when I go to start it you can hear the click in the fuse box, but the car doesn't even try to turn over. Could this be my starter? I am really confused as to why this happened.

I have dynamat on my doors and if the driver side lock isn't fully unlocked by using the key from the outside, the car will do exactly like yours is.

If you hear the click but no cranking, then your ignition switch is probably fine and your starter is dead. Give the starter a whack and see if it starts.

It may also be worthwhile to try and jumpstart the car... sometimes a dead/weak battery will have enough strength to engage the solenoid, but turn over the engine.

well as Im looking around there I notice a vacuum hose that attaches to nothing. It starts just below the starter on the transmission, snakes up by the MAP/BARO sensor and all those vacuum lines, and comes up by the larger hose that goes from the front valve cover to the mid resonator. And the way the hose curves it ends up resting against the resonator. What is this thing and is it supposed to be hooked up to anything?

Its supposed to be that way--attached to nothing. Read the 4th gen FAQS.

I'm sure thats a great way to start your car everyday. I wish I had a 5 speed so I can pull out my starter and sell it.

Sucks how you can do one repair and something entirely unrelated just happens to pack up on the same day.. for me.. I ripped out half my dash and put it all back.. later that night my A/C compressor dies on me.
