Bad TPS sensor?
Bad TPS sensor?
Heres the problem the engine speed doesnt go up if i tap on the gas peddal if im crusin between 30 and up... i can gently pump the gas pedal and i see no increase in rpm... its almost like if were drivin manual and had it in 5th going 30... plus... if im crusin at lets say 30 and i give it enough gas downshift out of the gear... the rpms rise like normal for a second then drop right away as if the trans just upshifted.. its almost like the trans downshifts like normal when i give it gas then abruptly upshifts.... i have a new trans but the old one did the same exact thing.. so i know its not a transmission problem... could this be a result of a dead spot in the tps sensor?
So you press the pedal, but there is no change in the RPMs... that sounds like a bad TPS to me...
its easy to check the TPS... do you have a Haynes? Just get a multimeter and probe the two terminals... smoothly open the throttle, you should see a linear increase in resistance/voltage as you open the throttle.

I would think that if there is a dead-spot, the voltage/resistance will stay the same even as the throttle is opened further.
You can pick up a used working TPS for 30 bucks - why not try swap it out?
