Your input shaft bearings in your tranny are going.

It depends on how much damage has been done. I had bearing wear around my input shaft making a rebuild out of the questions. I would suggest a new low milage tranny.

a 6spd would not benefit you unless you want to lose power, the drivetrain loss from a 6MT is greater than a 5MT. Not to mention getting it all to bolt up and work is a task all by itself.

ok....it just stared to make the noise a couple of days ago, it also gets quiet when it warms up....i talked to a guy at the dealer and he asked if i had a locking diff or a "regular" one.....now i know what a locking diff is but whats norm????it like a grand more for the locking version and like $1,240 for the "regular" version.....just need to find out which one i got or if it will be cheaper to just get mine fixed...and also do they just have to replace the input shaft bearings or replace other stuff as well????

I dont think a maxima came with a locking diff. the "regular one" would be the non-locking aka Open Diff.

check www.car-part.com you can find a good list of trannies for sale.

I have an axle clicking, bad ball joint. My tranny is definately working it way out the door.

My car still has no trouble making a 300mile drive with ease and great gas consumption. Idealy if you have the money get it fixed A.S.A.P. to go longer than you have to with your car in that condition, you may not get the same luck others get.

Transmissions dont click. They grind, they whine.

He said almost a clicking noise, which means its not exactly a clicking noise.

Not exactly. If you have a bad differential bearing (like me) you will hear a clicking sound comming from the front drivers side wheel while accelerating in a left turn. I guess technically the clicking is not comming form the tranny itself, but the tranny is causing it.

I had a bad diff (again) I myself am not experiencing click nor did I with the previous tranny. I have a Skateboard sound effect comming from the tranny but nothing as distictive as clicking.

I believe the clicking your hearing in a turn is axle related. As power is being put to the axle, and the bearing in the axle or something isnt proper in the axle, it produces a clicking sound. Try making any turn and see if you hear the clicking noise, make the same turn but clutch in or put it in neutral and see if you still hear the clicking. If you still hear it its not transmission related.

The price difference is for the open diff vs VLSD. GXE's didnt have the vlsd option as far as I know.

The only cars to come with VLSD are the 2001 AE 5th gens, the I30t's and certian canadian/international models.

Why, is that too difficult for you?

Your car is a 95 from the US. It does not have LSD.
