Painted Dash

i was just wondering how many people painted the dash of their car. and how long u have had it and if it still looks good. and also what pieces u have painted. pictures would be great.

I painted my whole dash, door panels ect. had it for over a year, looks good, but I don't drive my car everyday though. pictures on my homepage.

some other dude on the org painted his entire brown dash, door panels and evertyhing black with the dupli color interior spray i believe. looks good

That looks really good NCSU_MAX... looks stock. Check out mine on my cardomain SDB318, I painted it gunmetal with duplicolor wheel paint. I painted everything. BTW NCSU_MAX... how's that super-flo treatin ya?

I painted my dash silver over 1 year ago. It still looks good, but it needs some touch up on the well used areas, like the driver side window and door panel switches. Other than that it has kept up great.
Not the greatest pic, but here you go...

lol, funny you should ask. It worked amazing for about 2 weeks before it started to leak again at the flex. so i just ended up going with the original one from WSP and its working great.

Thanks, there are a few dings here and there though, but I'll be putting in a new system soon anyway and a '97-'99 center council... so I'll be re-painting it.

cool. i just started this. i wiped the pieces down with soapy water and then sanded them down with 400 grid. and wiped them down agian and then painted them white. it looks like the paint is cracking. how can i prevent this? and also what kind of paint did u guys use? thank scott

this is what i used - it will crack and peel if you are hard on it. mines been fine for a couple months now tho.

i got my dash and guage shroud colour matched when i got my hood resprayed, looks super, had as hell to scratch too.

Painted mine silver prob about a year ago. Still looks as good as the day I finished it. Duplicolor wheel paint is the way to go for the best combo of durability and looks

my friend accidently used 80 grid sand paper and messed it up so should i bondo the pieces and sand them agian to get rid of the cracks?

depends on what you're painting. iuf it's just trim pieces, just sand them with 180-220 so that the scratches are smaller and put a couple of coats of a high build primer on it and sand that until smooth. it would be more work trying to sand down filler. then follow that with 320-600

autozone brand babe ... lol one of the only things that i would ever put on my car in that little rice section that autozone has....they were only like 15 bucks too i believe
